Baby bouncers: when to start and until what age?
We often get questions about the right moment to start using a bouncer for your baby, until what age you can use one, and which bouncer is the best. After all, a bouncer is one of the must-haves for parents who also want to have their hands-free. 🙂 And since not all babies enjoy bouncers (for a long period of time), you can also choose to rent one instead of buying it.
From and up to what age do you use a bouncer?
You can easily buy a bouncer when your baby is already born, or put it on your wish list as a maternity gift. This will be your baby’s first seat! You can use a bouncer from the moment your baby is a few weeks old up to about 9 kilos (the seat states what weight you can use it up to). Please note that the bouncer needs to have a reclining position if you want to use the bouncer from birth. What we see at Babyloop is that parents use a bouncer until the young sprout is about 6-8 months old. After this, your child often wants more freedom and prefers to sit upright.
When do you use a bouncer?
When you use the bouncer is entirely up to you. You can use it for your little one’s first fruit snacks. Just to chill in. When you take a shower, your little one can sit with you in the bathroom. Please note that when you feed your child, it is more convenient if he can sit up a little more. Therefore, check whether the backrest of the bouncer is adjustable. Tip: The BabyBjorn bouncer is also often rented for vacations because of its compact design!
What is the best bouncer?
At BabyLoop we carry the stylish BabyBjörn Bliss Cotton bouncer for three reasons.
- It has been designed with the help of pediatricians and therefore has that extra bit of attention to the ergonomics of sitting for babies.
- Your baby’s motor skills and sense of balance are naturally stimulated by the light spring in this bouncer.
- In addition, the BabyBjörn bouncer has a robust frame that easily lasts for several generations (#sustainable), and can also be easily stored by folding it flat!
Lease your baby bouncer and save 70% (and it’s sustainable too)!
In general, leasing evokes the association that it is super expensive and that it is better to buy all the baby equipment if you want more than 1 child. However, I invite you to take a good look at this small calculation example to illustrate our affordability.
A new BabyBjorn bouncer Cotton Bliss costs €199. With an average use of 5 months, it costs you in rent €13.90 x 5 = €69.50. That is ~30% of the original purchase amount. So even if you get 3 children leasing is still cheaper than buying new products.

Please note: young babies should not sit in a bouncer for too long in one day. It is advised to put babies in products such as a bouncer, Stokke Newborn set or car seat for a maximum of 1.5 hours a day. Let them ‘play free’ every now and then in, for example, a playpen or on a play mat.
Baby bouncer when? Well, for example, while cooking, you have your hands free 🙂
