When is a duo stroller useful?
Renting a duo stroller is a handy solution if you are expecting twins, or if a brother or sister is coming soon. In a twin stroller you can transport two children safely and comfortably in one stroller. Fortunately, because just imagine having to travel with two separate strollers. Fortunately, more than enough good double strollers have been developed for this.
There are 2 types of duo strollers on the market: 1. with seats one behind the other and 2. with seats next to each other. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Below is an overview of the most important advantages and disadvantages.
1. Duo stroller with seats one behind the other
Double strollers where the seats, cribs or car seats are placed behind each other are the most common. This has to do with the fact that the stroller remains just as narrow as a mono stroller. You can imagine that it is more pleasant to drive in busy places this way. This makes it easier to maneuver around obstacles than with a side-by-side twin stroller.
The disadvantage of a tandem stroller is often the larger turning circle. These double strollers are usually a bit longer. Even though it is easier to move past obstacles here, it is a bit more difficult to turn.
Another disadvantage of a double stroller with the seats behind each other is the view you have of the children. Because the children sit behind each other, you can often see one of the two children less well. But here too, all kinds of smart solutions have been devised, allowing you to position the seats in such a way that you have a good or better view of both children.
2. Duo stroller with seats next to each other
You also have twin or duo strollers where the seats are placed next to each other, such as the Bugaboo Donkey 5. These are wider, but less long.
A duo stroller with the seats next to each other has two major advantages. Firstly, the turning circle is shorter, making it easier to move. The width makes this more difficult in busy or narrow areas. The second big advantage is the view you have of both your children. This is actually the same as a normal single stroller. And it’s nice for the kids to sit together!
Renting the Duo stroller is super convenient, because you often don’t use it for long and it takes up a lot of space. Because even though they are as small as possible, a duo stroller is of course never as compact as a regular stroller 🙂
