Second child: How do you tell this to your toddler?
Mama, what’s in your belly? 🍊 ⠀
You’re expecting your second child – but how do you tell a toddler that a brother or sister is coming?
Hereby a handful of tips on how to involve your child in the pregnancy and avoid jealousy:
👶 Don’t tell him there’s a baby coming until you have a big belly. Six months of prep time is an eternity for a toddler. This gives your child time to get used to it. ⠀ ⠀
👶 Involve your child in the pregnancy. When your baby starts kicking, it’s nice for your child to feel it. For example, you can also have your child tell a story to his brother or sister or take him along to a visit to the midwife (if that is allowed corona-wise of course).
👶 It’s not good to throw everything at once because a baby is coming. Be aware that many changes can upset your child. It is therefore nice if your toddler can stay in his own room. ⠀ ⠀
