Raising sustainable and environmentally conscious
𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 – is key when teaching your children to think and act sustainably. Young children look at the world with an open mind and are interested in nature 🌍 ”Set a good example!”
We hear that often, but also when it comes to sustainable behaviour, it is very important to show your children that you do what you say.
You have probably already explained to your child how waste separation works, but are you always doing it right?
If you have done your shopping and are left with a whole pile of packaging material, you could also reuse it in addition to recycling. For example, think of egg cartons, kitchen and toilet rolls and empty cans of (chick) peas. You will find plenty of crafting inspiration on Pinterest.
5 tips for a sustainable and environmentally conscious education
1️⃣ Let your children often play outside in the park or forest. In this way they learn to appreciate nature and develop a bond with nature. The first step to more environmental awareness 💚
2️⃣ Talk about the environment together! It works best when you are in nature. For example, ask your child to point out things that do not belong in nature, such as a piece of plastic Explain what is wrong with the environment now, but also what the solution would be.
3️⃣ Make recycling a game! ♻️ The superhero of the day is who recycles the most. This is how you teach your child to separate waste.
4️⃣ Teach your children to be economical with water and energy💡The light must always be turned off when you leave a room and the tap is turned off during the brush your teeth.
5️⃣ Go cycling 🚲 Cycle with your children to the supermarket, playground, school and their friends instead of taking the car.
Sustainable upbringing of course entails much more, but hopefully these tips will give you a helping hand. At BabyLoop you can rent your babyuituit, this way you save CO2 and it is still good for your wallet too (up to 70% cheaper compared to buying new).
